A self-taught painter, Diakaridia Traoré took his first steps into the art world in 2013 at Anw-ko’Art Center, which gave him the opportunity to participate in artistic workshops and meetings in Bamako and Ségou.Three years later, he joined the Badialan 1 collective, founded by Amadou Sanogo, a creative space that allowed him to freely pursue his artistic research and refine his practice.
Through his works, Diakaridia Traoré offers a personal vision of the paradoxes that shape our societies, revealing the ambiguities that reside within us.Brought together under the series “Dans le bar”, his works reflect a continuous process of artistic research, where he tirelessly explores a single theme: the bar. Through this theme, he examines the dichotomous relationship between:- Traditional African cultures, where alcohol plays a role in ceremonies and social rituals,
- And Muslim culture, where alcohol is prohibited according to strict religious interpretations.
Diakaridia Traoré has participated in several group exhibitions, including:- “AB1 Opens Studio” in Bamako (2017),
- Dak’Art – Contemporary Art Biennale (2018),
- Cultural Season Opening at the Institut Français of Bobo-Dioulasso (2020),
- “Dualité” exhibition at Bamako Art Gallery,
- “Let’s Talk about Art” at Taxi Bamako (2021).
His work has also been showcased in solo exhibitions:- “Dichotomie” at Taxi Bamako (2018),
- “Dichotomie” at Villa Soudan (2019).
