Mariam Niaré is an artist passionate about art since childhood, inspired by her father, a painter. She embraced drawing and photography from an early age and later honed her skills at the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers Multimédia Balla Fasséké Kouyaté, where she attended notable workshops, including one led by Hector Mediavilla, which resulted in a collective exhibition at the Bamako Photography Biennale.
She continued her artistic exploration by participating in various photography workshops, guided by experts in the field. Mariam is also a member of several artistic collectives, including Yamarou Photo, Sanou’Art, and the Association of Women Photographers.Her artistic work has led her to exhibit her pieces at major events in Mali, as well as at Lagos PhotoFestival and the Dakar Photography Biennale (Dak'Art).Mariam Niaré gained recognition during the second edition of the Inter Biennale with her series on people with albinism, winning the 2nd Prize "Grand Prize of the Festival Foundation on the Niger". She was praised by exhibition curator and art critic Simon Njami for her ability to create striking photographic stagings.Beyond her artistic success, Mariam continued to train and develop, attending various courses and workshops, including those covering social and cultural topics, such as sexual health and World Children's Day.Her series "Héritage" emerged from an artistic residency led by sculptor Amahiguéré Dolo, where she draws inspiration from:- West African geomancy,
- purification rituals using milk,
- and symbols of Dogon cosmology.
