Nybé Ponzio is a Franco-Malian photographer, currently in Mali since January 2021.He explores the issue of African identity, with his artistic focus being African and Afro-descendant cultures. He connects Africa to its diasporas through the various cultural ties that exist between them.
He builds on the idea of documentation, using a distinctly Black narrative, to better explain the workings of societies and cultures, aiming to break down existing stereotypes about Afro cultures. His work is structured around different series, such as the documentation of African traditions and rituals, traditional and modern hairstyles, religious festivals, lifestyles, architecture, African textiles, and the artistic scene.
